A commercially focused Chartered Accountant with considerable experience at CEO level David is used to bringing a calm approach to pressured situations and implementing improvements in working practices. A strong communicator with colleagues, investors, advisors and trading partners.
David qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG and moved very quickly into commercial financial management. He worked initially in retail then moved into design and communications where he became Finance Director of a multi-national publicly quoted consultancy.
This was followed by a spell in the IT sector where he led the P/E backed MBO of a leading UK based distributor. This was followed by spells working in international IT distribution working with leading IT manufacturers at Managing Director level going on to work at CEO level in a process management software developer, delivering solutions to the financial services sector.
David spent six years working as an independent interim turnaround consultant working on a number of cases in a number of sectors including:
During the course of his career he has been actively managed in the following areas
Business Planning – this has played a key part in every role that he has undertaken. Ranging from preparing survival plans for distressed companies to putting together plans for raising expansion and acquisition finance
Cash Flow – this area of expertise has always been a key part of the demonstrable benefits that David has delivered in his roles. He has spent a lot of time restructuring underperforming businesses to ensure they put in place the processes required to either secure their continued existence or to achieve their growth targets.
Business Turnaround – during his six years spent as an independent turnaround manager he worked in a number of distressed businesses ensuring the companies achieved the breathing space required to secure value for financial backers and a future for the business.
Mergers and Acquisitions – he has extensive experience in a number of sectors in buying and selling trading entities. His participation in these activities includes the following:
leading deal structures for both acquirers and vendors
vendor due diligence
post transaction integration
System Improvement – on a number of occasions David has led the implementation of new management systems, involving both process management and MIS.
Infrastructure Projects – he has experience in managing large infrastructure projects such as the opening of new department stores in retail and new distribution hubs while working in IT distribution. This experience has also extended to establishing new trading entities in Europe and North America.
